NRPA Parks and Recreation Month

July is the NRPA's Parks and Recreation Month so join us all month long as we celebrate!

Check out the calendar of events to see what's happening all month long:

Mondays - Free Entry at City Pools 

Every Monday in July, a different city pool will have free entry all day! July 3 & 17 will be at Northwest Pool, July 10 & 24 will be at San Jacinto Pool and July 31 will be at the Little Cedar Bayou Wave Pool.

Tuesdays - Pop-Up Park

Every Tuesday (with the exception of the Fourth of July Fireworks at Sylvan Beach) will feature our Pop-Up Park event where we "Pop Up" at local parks and throw a special event with music, games, snacks and giveaways! The first Pop-Up Park will feature our Parks Madness Champion Little Cedar Bayou Park, on July 11 at 9 AM. On July 18 at 9 AM we'll be visiting Creekmont Park and our last Pop-Up Park will be on July 25 at Tom Brown Park starting at 9 AM. 

Wednesdays - Double Dip Days

Join us on Wednesdays at select city pools for Double Dip Days! We'll have free ice cream while supplies last so you can cool off on the inside and out! July 5 will be at San Jacinto Pool, July 12 at Fairmont Pool, July 19 at Northwest Pool and July 26 at the Wave Pool! 

Thursdays - Pops at the Pad

New for 2023! Pops at the Pad is like the cousin of Double Dip Days, meaning we'll be serving up popsicles at the four different splash pads around the community! All Pops at the Pad events will start at 11 AM, here are the dates and locations: July 6 at the Monarch Splash Pad, July 13 at the Dr. MLK Jr. Splash Pad, July 20 at the Fairmont Splash Pad and July 27 at Brookglen Splash Pad. 

Fridays - Movie Night at the Park 

Returning this summer: You're killing me, Smalls! We'll have a showing of The Sandlot at Deotis Gay Field on July 14 at 8 PM! DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN we're doing a screening of Jaws at the Little Cedar Bayou Wave Pool on July 28 at 8 PM.

July 21st Open House - Pickleball at the Rec Center

Join us at the La Porte Recreation & Fitness Center gym on July 21 for some Pickleball, music, giveaways and snacks as we tell you about the wonders of your local Parks & Recreation department!
