Responsibilities
The La Porte Fire Department is responsible for providing the community with all aspects of Fire Protection Services. The La Porte Fire Department also provides contract fire protection services for the cities of Morgan's Point and Shoreacres.

The City of La Porte is located at the entrance of the Port of Houston. The city is proud to be one of the few municipalities that are a member of Channel Industries Mutual Aid (C.I.M.A). C.I.M.A. has a membership of 115 companies.

Areas

We serve a population of approximately 33,000 citizens, occupying an area of 18.33 square miles. We also provide fire service to an extraterritorial jurisdiction area of 15 square miles and respond to about 1200 alarms annually.

Areas range from light residential with stables and pastures, to dense residential areas with subdivisions and apartments to light industrial manufacturing, to heavy industrial / chemical complexes. The San Jacinto Monument and Texas Battleship are also located in the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City of La Porte.

Firefighters
The La Porte Fire Department is a combination of paid and volunteer fire fighters who operate out of 4 stations. Current staffing levels are 14 career fire fighters and support staff, and approximately 50 volunteer fire fighters.
