The Office of Emergency Management is located at the Fire
Administration Building, 124 South Second St. Although the OEM
works from the fire department, it answers directly to the City
Manager. The emergency management staff consists of two people at
present and operates with the support of other departments. Along
with responding to emergencies and disasters the emergency
management staff plans and prepares for disasters before they happen
in hopes to lessen the impact. In times of an emergency the
executive staff reports to the Fire Administration Building and sets
up the EOC (Emergency Operations Center). From there they begin
working on a solution to the emergency or disaster that may be
occurring. The EOC staff consists of city department directors or
their alternate, along with support staff. There is a "Basic
Emergency Plan" the city uses, it covers all emergencies, man made or natural and then there
are several supplemental annexes including Annex
Q, and it covers more
in-depth, hazardous materials. Below is a link to both of the
