Investigative Objectives
The objectives of a complaint investigation are to:
  1. Factually establish what happened.

  2. Determine if EMS personnel were involved in a violation of Department policy.

  3. Determine whether the conduct or behavior was intentional or unintentional.

  4. Determine if the conduct was the result of an action or inaction by the employee.

  5. Determine the reasonableness and basis of the employee's actions and evaluate any explanation given.

  6. Uncover all pertinent facts so they will be rendered admissible in a Review Board hearing.

  7. Determine if a Department Policy failure has occurred.

Complaint investigations will be specifically directed and narrowly related to performance of duties within the scope of the member's employment and fitness to hold the position.
