Hypertension (High Blood Pressure) is also known as the "Silent Killer"
Studies show that an estimated 1 in 4 adults suffer from hypertension. Managing and monitoring hypertension can help minimize the risk of its many complications such as heart failure, heart disease and stroke.
Our printable blood pressure tracker shows you how to take your blood pressure using a home monitoring device and gives you two options for keeping a record: on a full size chart or a handy wallet chart that you can carry with you to medical appointments, health fairs, a store's blood pressure machine or to the City of La Porte EMS Headquarter.

Career Day
La Porte EMS participates with the La Porte Independent School District in conducting Career Day at the various school capuses throughhout the school year. More
Childhood Immunizations
The City of La Porte EMS in conjunction with the Galveston County Immunization Coalition and the Texas Department of State Health Services have teamed up to help immunize children in the La Porte and surrounding areas free of charge. With one in three children in Texas not properly immunized, the Childhood Immunization Program, provides immunizations to uninsured and medically under served children. The immunization clinics are currently held from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon on the second Saturday of each month at the City of La Porte EMS Headquarters located at 10428 Spencer Hwy. More
Child Safety Seat Inspections
The City of La Porte Emergency Medical Services (EMS) has taken aggressive steps to further protect our children by training paramedics on the proper installation of child safety seats. Our "Child Safety Seat Technicians" have passed a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration certification course and each are very willing to help ensure your child safety seat is properly installed. Shattered Dreams
La Porte EMS, in conjunction with the La Porte Independent School District and the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission conducts a powerful bi-annual DWI awareness program for the La Porte High School juniors and seniors called "Shattered Dreams." Shattered Dreams is an educational experience that reminds us all of the dangers associated with underage drinking and driving. More
Vial of Life
This program is intended to provide citizens with a method to store important medical information in their homes for access by emergency responders. The “Vial of Life” enables emergency responders (paramedics, firefighters and police officers) to obtain helpful information regarding a patient’s medical history. This is especially important if the patient is unconscious or is unable to speak to the emergency responders. More
Fall Prevention Program
The Fall Prevention Program was designed to inform and educate the public about the causes of falls in older adults, and the assessments, inspections, and health promotion measures which can be taken to reduce the risk of falls in this age group. La Porte EMS goes out into the community and gives presentations on this topic along with informing the public that thay can call our EMS Headquarters and schedule a free in-home safety inspection to help reduce the risk of falling.
