BLACKBOARD CONNECT - PHONE NOTIFICATION SYSTEM
Blackboard Connect is the City of La Porte's public notification system. This system allows the City to contact citizens with important information by phone, email, and text message.
It is important to register your cell phone number in the system so you will continue to receive updated information when you are not at home. Click here to register.
These sirens are located throughout the city in such a way that they can be heard in all residential and business areas. In the event of a chemical emergency, the sirens will sound a "whoop, whoop" tone. When the sirens are activated, citizens should shelter-in-place, stay off the phone, and tune radios to AM 830 for more information.
The CAER Line is a telephone system that is used to get information regarding chemical plant activities. The number is 281-476-CAER (2237).
The phone line is divided into two sections: emergency messages and non-emergency messages. The non-emergency section is used to communicate information such as alarm testing and fire training.
During an emergency, the City will post updated information on the Citizens Hotline at 1-866-642-4153. Carrying this number with you will help you and your family stay informed during an emergency.
FLASHING ROADWAY SIGNS
There are signs located along roadways throughout the city which will begin to flash during an emergency. These flashing roadway signs alert you to an emergency situation and direct you to tune to AM 830 for more information.
