Councilperson Chuck Engelken has been a resident since 1974 and served La Porte as the District 2 representative since 1997. A graduate of La Porte High School, Engelken attended San Jacinto College and has been employed with CenterPoint Energy for forty years. He is a former Planning and Zoning Commissioner for the City, was Mayor Pro Tem in 1999 and 2001, represents La Porte on the Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) Board of Directors, serving as the Board's Chairman in 2016, and is a member of the Council’s Fiscal Affairs Committee and the City’s Development Corporation (4-B) Board of Directors.
Engelken is married to Jana, his wife of many years, and enjoys golf, fishing, bowling, traveling, and volunteering in the community.
